A Win for 266 at Area Essex 2008

Daniel's Racing Career so far...

Started racing Ministox at the age of 12 on May 2nd 1999.  Picked up first trophy in the wet at Swaffham in the July, 3rd Place.    First win in the September and finished up 6th. in the Trackstar National Points Championship for 1999 racing as 466.

Continued racing at Trackstar for 2000 picking up more trophies and 3rd in the Trackstar National Points for 2000 racing as 466.

2001 was not the best of seasons at the Trackstar tracks but at the Spedeworth tracks many Trophies were picked up. The biggest two being joint winner of the Norfolk Gold Cup series and then going on to win the big race, so Norfolk Gold Cup winner 2001 at Great Yarmouth.

In 2002 decided to move to Spedeworth and race under the number 161, as had done so well at the Spedeworth tracks in the last year. In 2002 it was the best year by far winning all the following championships: Birmingham-Open championship at Birmingham wheels, Bovingdon-Bovingdon Track Championship, Wimbledon-Stars of the Future Championship and finally winning the Spedeworth National Points Championship for 2002. The following two championships gained 2nd place: Midlands Championship at Northampton and the Norfolk Gold Cup at Great Yarmouth.

2003 was time to move up to an adult’s class as once you reach the age of 16 you can no longer race in Ministoxs.  Superstoxs was the class that Daniel chose.  At first it started off really hard, once Daniel had got to grips with the jump from front wheel drive Mini with a 1000 cc engine to a rear wheel drive Superstox with a 2 litre ford pinto engine, top 10 place positions started being gained.   At the 2003 Ipswich Spedeweekend it got even better the first win on the Saturday evening. On the Sunday it was the National Championship for the Superstoxs and Daniel won from grid position 5.  Times were going to be really hard from then on because, winning the National Championship, he had to start at the rear of the grid; it was definitely hard although 4th position was achieved in the British Championship later on that year.  Also qualified 13th on the grid for the World Final at Wimbledon but crashed out.   In the October of 2003 Daniel raced a Legend which has got a 1250 cc Yamaha motorbike engine in; they are fast, really really quick and also rear wheel drive.

In 2004 not so many Superstox meetings were done until the last part of the season but Legends was go, go, go! First meeting of the year four wins out of four, staying in the top two or thee positions in the National Points all year.  In September the Arthur Bright Memorial was won at Swaffham.  Back to the Superstox, well not much happened until the world Final at Swaffham, qualified 34th on the grid and came through to achieve 9th position also the heats after the World Final were won.  In December Daniel raced a National Banger for Charity at Ipswich at an all stars event.

In 2005 lots more Superstox racing was done and only a few legend. Throughout 2005 Daniel stayed either Superstar or Red grade and qualified 11th for the World Final but was put into the fence on the first corner. After that decided to concentrate on just Legends, well that did not last long as in November he raced a Rookie Banger at Swaffham, not much luck.

In 2006 Daniel raced Legends mainly but took part in Rookie Bangers for about 12 to 15 meetings achieving three wins at Swaffham and a few decent crashes. In the Legends no Championships were won but 3rd place in the Triple Crown Championship was achieved and 4th place in the European Championship in Belgium at Warneton, and a few heat wins here and there.

Not much happened in 2007 a few wins here and there but the best day being at Skegness with a 3rd in heat one and 1st in heat two and the final, other achievements were 3rd in the Midlands Championship at Birmingham Wheels.

Lee's Racing Career so far...

Started racing a Ministox on the 26th December 2000 at the age of 11 and my first meeting was at Skegness Stadium.
I picked up my first trophy at Birmingham Wheels with a 2nd place on the 1st September 2001. Racing under the number of 406. I also achieved A Trackstar Merit Award for the 2001 season.

2002 I decided to move to Spedeworth and race under the number of 131, I started to achieve more trophies and awards in this year as I won the Felsham Garage Series Grade Award 2002 and I also travelled to special events which include going to Silverstone for a "SCF Power Drive" and Donington Park Mini Racing festival,

At the end of 2002 I lost interest in the sport due to a few painful accidents I decided to retire for a few years until I was older and more confident with the car.

2005 I decided to give it another go as I turned 15 and so I decided to race for Incarace a non-contact promotion of Ministox. Racing under the number of 266
This was where I gained a lot of my racing highs winning my first ever race which was in my first race back since 2002/2003 which I won at Birmingham Wheels. I also moved up the grading system from being a novice white top to a top red grader which is just below superstar grade in my first month of racing for the promotion. I also achieved Spedeworth's Top Visitor Trophy and the Midlands Championship being the only East Anglian on the grid, I qualified 2nd for the Championship leading the race from green flag to chequered flag. I also came 3rd in the Hednesford Championship. I had to pull out of the 2005 season early as I turned 16 in the October but I was leading the National Points but finished forth when the season had ended.

I moved on to the UK Oval Legends in 2006 and gained my first Legends win at Birmingham Wheels on the 6th October 2007.
